Online psychotherapy and counselling for clients whose professional, family or travel commitments make remote appointments the most workable format. Sessions are available for teenagers, adults and couples, subject to clinical suitability.
Online therapy can offer continuity when work, travel, caring responsibilities or location make regular in-person appointments difficult. Sessions retain the same length, clinical assessment, treatment focus and professional boundaries as work in the consulting room.
You do not need to know which therapeutic approach you need before beginning. The initial consultation helps us understand what brings you to therapy, what you hope will change and whether online work is the most appropriate format for you.
A confidential and reliable setting
It is important to join sessions from a quiet, private place where you can speak freely and are unlikely to be interrupted. We will agree practical arrangements, confidentiality and what to do if the connection is disrupted before the work begins.
Online therapy may be booked as a single consultation, for a focused period of 6, 8, 12 or 24 sessions, or as open-ended therapy. Suitability, frequency and duration are considered together rather than assumed in advance.
An integrative clinical approach
My work draws on Integrative and Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Compassion-Focused Therapy and mindfulness-based approaches.
This allows sessions to combine careful understanding of your emotional and relational world with practical, evidence-based ways of responding to current difficulties.
Suitability is a clinical decision, not only a matter of convenience
Online work can be highly effective when privacy, technology and the clinical needs of the person are compatible with the format. Assessment therefore considers where you will join from, whether you can speak without interruption, how emergencies would be managed and whether another form or level of support would be more appropriate.
An illustrative example might be a professional who travels regularly and has struggled to maintain continuity in therapy. A consistent online appointment can protect the therapeutic rhythm while allowing work to continue across changing schedules. This example is illustrative and is not based on a specific client. If you expect to join from outside the United Kingdom, this must be discussed in advance because professional, legal and insurance considerations may apply.

WHAT SESSIONS INVOLVE
Suitability, privacy and continuity.
01
Session one: suitability and practical arrangements
We assess the difficulty, your goals, privacy, location, technology and the level of support required before confirming that online therapy is appropriate.
02
Sessions two and three: focus and therapeutic rhythm
We establish a shared focus, agree how sessions will be used and ensure the online setting supports the same attention, boundaries and clinical purpose as in-person work.
03
Ongoing work: continuity and review
We review how the online format is working, maintain a consistent rhythm and adapt the therapeutic focus as your circumstances and needs develop.
PRACTICAL QUESTIONS
Privacy, travel and practical arrangements.
How do online sessions take place?+
Sessions take place by secure video at an agreed appointment time. Before beginning, we will discuss privacy, practical arrangements and what to do if the connection is interrupted.
Is online therapy suitable for everyone?+
Not always. Suitability depends on your circumstances, privacy, clinical needs and the level of support required. The initial consultation allows us to consider this carefully together.
Can online therapy be time-limited or longer-term?+
Yes. Depending on your needs, online work may be a single consultation, a focused course of 6, 8, 12 or 24 sessions, or open-ended therapy.
Can I join an online session while travelling abroad?+
Not automatically. Your location must be discussed before the appointment because professional, legal, safeguarding and insurance requirements can differ between countries. Sessions should never be assumed to be available from every jurisdiction.
What happens if the video connection fails?+
We agree a backup arrangement before therapy begins, including how long to attempt reconnection and whether the session can continue by another agreed method when clinically and practically appropriate.
How is the online format reviewed?+
Alongside therapeutic progress, we review whether privacy, concentration, safety and the quality of communication remain adequate. A move to in-person work or another service may be considered if the format stops supporting the treatment.
