Integrative Psychotherapist in Central London

Integrative psychotherapy, counselling, CBT and IPT informed by twenty years of clinical experience across the NHS, Priory Group, university counselling services and private practice. Sessions are available on Regent Street and online.

CLINICAL APPROACH

A clinically integrated way of understanding change.

An integrative way of working

Integrative psychotherapy brings together different therapeutic perspectives rather than asking you to fit a single method. We may explore earlier experiences and recurring relationship patterns, while also using practical, evidence-based strategies for difficulties affecting you now.

My work draws on psychodynamic psychotherapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Compassion Focused Therapy and mindfulness. The selection and sequencing of interventions are guided by formulation, treatment goals and clinical suitability.

A practice designed around individual need

Some people begin therapy with a clearly defined concern; others arrive with a quieter sense of feeling stuck, disconnected or no longer themselves. Both are valid places to start. We will clarify what you would like from therapy and agree a pace and direction together.

Therapy may be a single consultation, time-limited work of 6, 8, 12 or 24 sessions, or open-ended. In-person and online appointments allow the work to remain consistent around professional, family and travel commitments.

Professional experience and standards

I bring 20 years of experience across the NHS, Priory Group, university counselling services and private practice in central London. I am UKCP registered, BABCP-accredited and IPT UK registered, and undertake regular clinical supervision and continuing professional development.

Assessment and review

Assessment considers the difficulty, its history, current relationships, risk, previous therapy and what would make treatment useful now. Progress is reviewed through your agreed goals, changes in everyday patterns and, where helpful, brief clinical measures. The choice of approach remains open to review rather than being fixed at the outset.

WHAT SESSIONS INVOLVE

Assessment, shared direction and responsive review.

01

Session one: initial consultation

We clarify what has brought you to therapy, what you hope may change and whether my approach and the proposed format feel appropriate.

02

Sessions two and three: a shared understanding

We develop an understanding of the emotional, relational and behavioural patterns affecting you and agree the first priorities and treatment format.

03

Ongoing work: insight, change and review

Sessions combine careful reflection with practical therapeutic work. We review progress and adapt the pace or emphasis as your needs become clearer.

PRACTICAL QUESTIONS

Choosing the right therapeutic format.

Where is the practice located?

In-person sessions take place at The Linen Hall, 162–168 Regent Street, Soho, London W1B 5TF, close to Oxford Circus and Piccadilly Circus stations.

Can I have therapy online?

Yes. Secure online sessions are available alongside in-person appointments and can be particularly helpful for consistency around work, travel or caring responsibilities.

Do I need to know which type of therapy I need?

No. The initial consultation is an opportunity to understand what brings you to therapy and consider which approach and format may be most helpful.

How long might integrative psychotherapy last?

Therapy may be a single consultation, a focused course of 6, 8, 12 or 24 sessions, or open-ended work. A recommended starting format is discussed after assessment and reviewed as the work develops.

How will we know whether therapy is helping?

We agree observable treatment goals and review progress through changes in symptoms, relationships, choices and everyday functioning. Brief clinical measures may also be used when they add useful information.

Can another service sometimes be more appropriate?

Yes. The initial consultation considers whether private outpatient therapy provides the right level and type of support. Where a different or more specialist service would be safer or more appropriate, this will be discussed openly.
